Super Group Meeting had super encouraging results

Gregory’s first ever Super Group meeting was held Wednesday, May 19th at City Hall with a promising start and a host of upstanding members of the community in attendance. The idea for the super group meeting was a brainchild of community members at the Gregory/ Dallas Chamber, GED, and Horizon annual meeting in February. With so many “groups” overlapping members, the idea was to have all, (GED, Horizons, IOOF, Sunshine Club, City Council, School Board, Arts Council, Hipp Movie Theater, Gregory Public Library, American Legion, etc.) join forces and collaborate on common issues within Gregory. JMe Braun, Chamber Director of the Gregory/Dallas Chamber was appointed to plan and lead the meetings. Part of the agenda included an open discussion on what collaborating would look like and ensuring everyone has a voice during these meetings. It was also stated that, because everyone’s time is valuable, the meeting would have a hard stop at an hour. The items of interest for this first meeting included a discussion of the community calendar, the community meal, and the commodity program. In regards to the community calendar that the Chamber puts together, it was decided that school-related events would be left off to ensure enough room for everything else. Any events going on within the community should be emailed to the chamber at: chamber@ cityofgregory.com As for the commodity program, it was mentioned at a city council meeting a couple months ago that Marcy Creekmur, and Marlene Rezac would like to retire. Since the Gregory commodity program services 70 families (nearly quadruple the number other communities serve) the sisters would like to see the program continue to help.
